Join us in the Housing Peer Group
The social housing sector is huge. According to the Guardian, 4.1m people live in social homes in England and Wales.
At the last count, there were 1770 social housing providers registered by the government. Within these providers, there are a huge number of common challenges which staff face on a daily basis.
Virtual College is in the fortunate position of working closely with a large number of these social housing organisations throughout the UK – from Hanover Scotland through WM Housing Group in the Midlands to NPT Homes in Wales.
So, Virtual College has created the Housing Peer Group to provide an informal network of staff who work within this sector and face common challenges.
As time is at a premium for most staff and travelling costs are certainly under pressure, most of the peer group’s networking is conducted electronically.
Fiona Sheen, online learning consultant at Virtual College, commented:”We work closely with group members who help to ensure that our courses are relevant and appropriate to the sector and feed into the development programme.
“An important by-product is that we can provide a mechanism for valuable dialogue and networking between social housing providers.
As Sarah Hubbard, Senior Learning & Development Officer at NPT Homes, said: We all face similar issues so why re-invent the wheel if someone has already found a perfectly good solution?”
